How are you really doing?

Hello and happy new year!  Really so excited to be back, it has been sometime since the last blog post. Welcome to the year 2022! We took January off to plan for the great year ahead hence, this ‘very late happy new year’….lol

It’s the beginning of another year and  I do not believe in new year resolutions unless I understand the motivation.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom

Psalms 90 v 12

Regardless of how we feel about it, our days are numbered and there is not a better time to take an account of our lives than the beginning of a brand new year filled with hope.

So, I would like to ask how you are. Usually on autopilot, our response is ‘fine’ without giving it a thought. Would you take a minute today to assess your life and answer how you are. You might need a pen and journal for this.

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith

2 Corinthians 13 v 5
  • Spirituality – Examine your walk with the Master Jesus, how are you? His will for us is to flourish and grow in our love and walk with Him. So are you growing? Are you better than you were a year ago?
  • Work/career – Examine what you do for work and at work. Are you still in the faith? Are you giving your best and working as Christ would?
  • Finances – What are you doing with the resources the master gives you? He gives us bread to eat and seed to sow. Do you know the purpose of what He is giving to you and are you using it rightly?
  • Physical body/health – How are you looking after your body which is the temple of the Lord? A few months ago I saw a post that said ‘what you eat is an investment into your body’ and somehow that has haunted me…ahhahaa
  • Relationships – How are the relationships God has given you? Your family, friends and acquaintances have all been put into your life by God. How are you maintaining and sustaining those relationships? It is also worth asking if any of those relationships might be taking the place of God in your life? Ouch! Yes, I said it. Many people have replaced God with their spouses or friends . Who do you go to first with anything and everything? Who do you trust?
  • Your assignment – We all have a measure of grace given to us for the purpose of God in our lives. How are you using yours? If you’ve the grace of encouraging others, how are you using it? How are you utilizing your grace to teach?

I could go on and on but as someone who tries not to compartmentalize life, I had to do this to get a better perspective. I’ve to say just like you, I’m a work in progress and I wouldn’t kick myself for not being 100%

The unexamined life is not worth living

Socrates
  • What will you do about it?

When you are done examining, what will you do about it? It is not enough to recognize what you need to work on although that serves as a good starting point.

What will you do differently this year? What will you change to improve your own life and walk with God?

I’m not asking you to write a new year resolution. The difference between what you write and what others write is the ‘One’ that supports you and gives ‘life’ to your dreams.

Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me

Psalms 54 v 4

Ask God for help!  On our own , we can do nothing, we can achieve nothing.

We would have the same dreams and goals in 5years if He does not help us. Great news is He is always willing to help and support us.

Thank you for reading this post, I’m looking forward to a great year ahead just like you. Please leave your thoughts in the comment section and do not forget to share this post with your friends.

Keep hope alive! I leave you with the peace of God!
