good eye 2

The Good Eye!

Hello all! How has your week been? I hope you are enjoying good weather anywhere in the world you are.

Last week, I shared the concept of “the God wink.” See the link here if you missed it, and I got very interesting responses to your experiences, so I thought this week I will share another concept called “The Good Eye.”

Also not coined by me, the good eye is a concept I recently learnt on a course, and I have found it very useful. Have you met some people who are so positive they are almost annoying?

thoughtful

Recently, Elon Musk shared a tweet I liked:

Better to live life erring on the side of being optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right! – Elon Musk

There is a way we all see the world and circumstances/events that happen in our lives, and you will often find two people who experience the same events respond to it differently. They say we see things as we are and not as they are. This means whether good or bad, most issues are dependent on our interpretation of them and what we tell ourselves.

I believe that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can begin to “train” ourselves (notice the word train) to use our good eye. That is the intentional act of looking for the good in every situation.

This is an unnatural response, as the Adamic nature in itself is selfish and negative, looking out for what is wrong in others and ourselves. There is suffering in the world, but with our good eye, we can perhaps suffer less if we embrace the good in every situation.

rainy

There are days this is difficult but definitely not impossible. Imagine a rainy day when you get home drenched because the bus was late or you forgot your umbrella. You can choose to be angry about the situation or thankful that at least you have a home to go to and focus on giving thanks for it.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you – 1 Thess 5 v 18

grateful

Thanksgiving is not a suggestion but an instruction; it doesn’t say give thanks for all things but in all things because Scripture acknowledges not all situations can be given thanks for, but in them, we can give thanks to the all knowing God.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose – Romans 8 v 28

God is able to make even the worst situations serve His purpose in our lives and I believe this wholeheartedly; what the enemy meant for evil will be used for good. It is my aim today to encourage you to choose and train yourself to see the good in all men and all circumstances and as you do this, may the Lord cause even difficult situations to work for your good.

Please remember to comment and share with your friends. I leave you with the peace of God!
