Letting Go of the Knife!

Hello there!

It has been ages, and yes, I know. lol. I hope this time we’re back for good. I have continued to share on other platforms, but it’s good to be back here.

It was hard deciding what story to share on my first day back. (It feels a bit like choosing the right outfit on your first day back to school in high school!)

This particular story is very relatable, and I believe that at the moment it was shared, it was also a personal message for me.

devotion

During devotion time, Baby T (who is almost 9 years old, by the way, yes, we’ve been doing this for quite some time now!) asked to share a lesson from a video she had watched.

She held a table knife tightly around the cutting edge and described it as life’s issues and problems. She explained that if you try to pull it out forcefully, you will get hurt. Instead, you can slowly open your hand and release it.

She said this is what happens when we hold on too tightly to life’s challenges and burdens. We leave little room for God’s help. But when we release them and let go, we allow God to step in and take control.

Where are the perfectionists and worriers in the house?

Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. Psalm 55:22

When you give your burdens to God, don’t take them back. Don’t even try to share the load with Him, carrying a little yourself while expecting Him to carry the rest.

No, leave it all at His feet.

Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. Luke 12:27

plant

I’d like to encourage you to stop by a plant or even better, a beautiful flower, the next time you walk past one. Take a moment to observe its details, its beauty, and the care evident in its design.

It only lives for a short time, yet God watches over it.

Then ask yourself this question:

“How about me?”

If He watches over the lilies, then He is certainly watching over me.

I leave you with the peace of God.
