A hello dear junior reader, my name is Ronke and I would like you to know it is such a privilege to write to you. I’m a Christian, I work as a medical doctor and I’ve 2 lovely daughters ages 7 and 4.
One of my favourite things to do is to teach young children about God and the bible, I also enjoy answering questions and discussing the bible. This is the first time I’m writing directly to you and I hope to do this regularly.
I was thinking of what to discuss today and I think the best place to start is to lay a foundation – Jesus. I know most of you (especially if you go to church) have heard about Jesus and know about him, I hope that you however learn something new after this.
Who is Jesus?
- He is the son of God
Then he asked them, ”But who do you say i am?”
Simon Peter answered, ”You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Mathew 15 V 16
Many years ago before Jesus was born, there has been many prophesies (foretelling) by prophets that someone was going to come to earth and save the world.
Jesus has been in heaven and when the time came, God sent him to the earth to be born by a lovely lady called Mary in a supernatural way (You can read about this in Mathew 1)
- He is the same as God
Even though Jesus is the son of God, God sees Him as being the same one with Him. That means He can make all the decisions God can make, He can forgive sins and He can answer prayers. It is just like someone having all the same authority over you like your parents/guardians.
I know a lot of you might find it hard to understand this and I hope in the future God can teach me better ways to explain it.
- Why did He die?
For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life
John 3 v 16
Jesus died because of you. I know you might see death as a bad thing but this is what I call a very good death.
You see, we were all born as sinners because of what Adam & Eve did but God wanted us to become His children again, the only way to do this was to make such a big sacrifice.
God had to give us His most precious son, Jesus to die so that you and I can freely and boldly become children of God 100%
We should all be grateful to Jesus for agreeing to this, He was very afraid just before He died.
But He rose again after 3days just as He said ….yippee!!
- Where is Jesus now?
So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God
Mark 16 v 19
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12 v 2
Jesus now lives in heaven and sits very close to God; bible says He sits on the right hand.
Do you wonder what He is doing there everyday?
Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us
Romans 8 v 34
He is mediating for us daily, this means He is stepping in for us, always telling God good things about us and telling God to bless and protect us.
- He lives forever
But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever
Hebrews 7 v 24
Jesus will never die again, He now lives forever.
I hope that you’ve learnt something about Jesus. Please leave your questions or comments (you can ask your grown-ups too) , looking forward to writing to you soon.
I leave you with the peace of God!
