Hi dear readers, Happy Easter to you all! I hope you are all having a great Easter weekend. Last Easter, we shared on the love of God which is overwhelming (please click here to read).
On Easter Sunday two years ago, whilst out on a drive with Dr O (dear new readers, that’s what we call my hubby), we talked about the death of Jesus and he called my attention to an amazing person in that story that I had overlooked. I think it is indeed a good time to share this.
Joseph of Arimathea
Joseph of Arimathea took a risk and went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. (Joseph was an honored member of the high council, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come.
Mark 15 v 43
For context, this was an influential man who was a secret follower of Jesus. Because of His position, he had access to Pilate and requested the body of Jesus which he buried honourably.
With him came Nicodemus, the man who had come to Jesus at night. He brought about seventy-five poundss of perfumed ointment made from myrrh and aloes
John 19 v 39
What this gentleman did was to use His influence and position for Christ. What would have happened to the body of our Lord if He didn’t do anything? If he stayed in hiding forever? Could he have been thrown into the ocean? Or left out to rot? Either way, he would have risen again!
So what are you doing with your Influence?
Did you say what influence or what position? After all, you’re not a social media influencer.
Google defines influence as the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behaviour of someone or something.
Everywhere you go, everyone you speak with, everything you do is an opportunity for you to be an influence for Christ and the gospel.
How are we maximising this influence? Many giants in several industries have the light that is Christ but have been silent for too long. The only reason evil is gaining place in and around our world is because many have kept quiet for too long.
- When you shine as a light in this dark world, you are an influence.
- When you stand up for what is right and true, you are an influence.
- When your words are seasoned with salt, you are an influence.
- When you love and forgive just as Christ would, you are an influence.
You do not need wealth or a platform to be an influence , you only need a willing heart and the light will shine through it.

As we celebrate the most remarkable death and resurrection in history, let us also remember He died that we might live and as we live, let us live for Him so that His death will not be in vain.

Influence can be minor, home, work, family of major like politics or larger platform. But how do you Influence those that look up to you?
